The
Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA,
incorporating EAN and ECR) |
|
We have
implemented a number of solutions. The largest
is a national Product Data Catalogue (PDC)
for fast moving consumer goods. This catalogue
allows manufacturers and suppliers to capture
data pertaining to their barcoded products and
to control the release of the data to other
parties. Retailers utilise the PDC to gain
access to the data and supplier product
information. |
|
The PDC
is a hierarchical Client-Server solution
utilising a central server and web client as
well as any number of localised client-server
PDC-local systems within each organisation. The
PDC can be viewed at
http://www.eanpdc.co.za/pdcnetsecure.asp?ce=shell. |
In addition to the PDC we have created a
number of other websites for CGCSA:
|
The Efficient Consumer Response’s (ECR)
anticrime website,
http://www.ecrcrime.org.za,
their incident management system,
http://www.cgccrime.org.za/ims,
their employers reference site,
http://www.cgccrime.org.za/ers, |
|
as well as their internal backoffice systems, which
are hosted with us. These backoffice systems
utilise workflow technology and are integrated
with the rest of the business to ensure a total
solution. |

Pick n Pay Group – South Africa |
| For Pick
n Pay we have designed, developed and commissioned two
essential business software solutions |
| i. New
Product Development Solution. |
This
powerful solution implements, manages and facilitates
the development of “house branded” products into the
marketplace. Product developers, buyers, food
technologists, labs, commercial suppliers and managers
all collaborate through a workflow driven solution to
ensure that products are properly and timeously
introduced into the marketplace. The workflow processes
cater for different development types, categories and
LSM ranges and ensure economically optimum delivery
on-time and within budget.
The solution is developed as a three tier solution with
a web-front end, .Net application tier and SQL 2005
database back-end. |
| ii. In
Store Promotional Printing. |
This
solution assists retail outlets with the printing of
in-store promotional material. A developed wizard guides
a store manager/user through a simple process of
identifying a desired promotional template and then
specifying or selecting the appropriate description and
promotional pricing details. Finally the promotion is
printed in high quality output for display in the store.
|
| The solution enjoys the latest .Net technology and
ribbon control layout. Furthermore the solution
encompasses an auto-update and distribution design to
ensure that all stores across the country are seamlessly
and automatically updated and managed from a single
central point. |

| Food
Safety Initiative for South Africa |
| Here we have
won the contract, ahead of SAP, to develop the
portal and web solutions for the Food Safety
Initiative of South Africa (FSI). |
| FSI, at this
stage, is an industry led initiative, driven by
the major retailers and manufacturers, to bring
together in a central location all the
processes, information and standards required as
a minimum for food safety in South Africa. |
| The solution has two aspects; one being a public
domain website and the other being a members
only portal environment. The public Domain web
site is designed to provide accurate, concise
and reliable information to the public in a
clear and efficient manner. Content within the
public domain web site is derived from the
results of work undertaken by the members in the
portal side. The portal side facilitates
collaboration across a number of committees,
working groups and expert panels. It provides
centralised document management facilities as
well as a centralised point for the management
of alerts and the distribution of information to
the public. The portal area is built using
Microsoft SharePoint Server and uses a
foundation of solid reference data management. |
We have
introduced a completely unique technology termed
“Data Document” where we facilitate a single
point of document authoring and management with
strictly controlled content viewership based on
permissions. In other words FSI is able to
author and manage material consisting both of
publically visible content and sensitive
restricted content; at a single source using a
single environment. This approach removes the
headache of multiple copies of information, for
multiple viewership roles, that need to be kept
in sync with one another. The content delivery
mechanism constructs a view of the document in
accordance with the viewer’s permissions and
presents this to him/her.
The FSI solution may be viewed at

smaller modules that streamlines their business and
truly places their customers at the centre of their
interaction with them. The suite includes a workflow
enabled transaction pipeline ensuring flexibility,
accuracy and measurability. |

| Smart BEE
solutions |

Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Scorecard
(bee@work). This solution is built using thin client
technology and can be hosted internally on a company
intranet or within our centralised hosting environment.
The scorecard covers all aspects of the BEE space in a
flexible manner. Companies have full configuration
control over targets, alerts, covering all aspects of
the BEE space as well as formats for external
integration to ERP systems.
|
| The solution was developed using Microsoft Visual Studio
2005, Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework and Microsoft SQL
Server 2005. |
